FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Hardwood Floor Refinishing?
Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining (with the color of your choice) and applying polyurethane. If you prefer oil-based polyurethane, we will apply 2 coats and lightly sand between coats. With water-based poly, 3 coats are used with light sanding between coats 1 and 2 and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Of course we “tack” (clean the dust) prior to each coat. This is the method most are familiar with; it takes 2 to 4 days and provides the homeowner with a finish that is as close to perfection as possible. With our low prices, our hardwood floor refinishing services are our most affordable.
What is Hardwood Floor Resurfacing?

Resurfacing is our signature service, starting at just $0.99 per sq/ft. We delicately remove minor scratches, scuffs, and dirt and restore the original shine of your hardwood floor with a new polyurethane finish. This process brightens the color without extensively altering the actual wood. Suitable for all wood types, it’s also our most budget-friendly option and most projects are completed in hours rather than days!

I Have a Few Really Deep Scratches, Do I Need Resurfacing or Refinishing?

Generally speaking, refinishing is the best method to get rid of scratches since it employs a meticulous sanding process. Meanwhile, resurfacing does not. While a few deep scratches may add character or tell a story for some, others may not see the added value in removing them at an extra cost. Especially if you have pets or children, eliminating ALL scratches might very well be a temporary solution. In such cases, resurfacing could be the optimal choice to safeguard your long-term investment. Contact our team and we’ll assist you in determining which service aligns best with your needs.

I Have Pet Stains On My Hardwood Floors, Can You Fix It?
Addressing pet accidents promptly when they occur is essential for preserving the condition of your hardwood floors. If cleaning with the steps outlined in the next section doesn’t fix the problem area, then the urine has probably soaked into your flooring and more serious hardwood floor restoration work will be required. We are confident in our ability to conquer most pet stains, but contact us to determine the severity of your stain.
What Do I Use To Clean Deep Stains On My Hardwood Floors?
Create a mixture of one part white vinegar and four parts water. Prepare a spray bottle for little, everyday accidents and a bucket for the bigger stains. Scrub stains thoroughly. After you’re sure it’s clean, wipe it completely dry. Then, dry it again. Beware of ammonia in cleaners; pet urine actually contains ammonia, and if your pet smells the ammonia where they last had an accident, they are more likely to want to relieve themselves in that same spot next time.
Is Your Process Really Dust Free?
This process creates very little dust due to our equipment mounted vacuums eliminating most of the dust. What remains is a very light coating of dust on the floor. No airborne dust is generated, and we mean it! The remaining dust on the floor is vacuumed up, then the surface is cleaned with tack rags.
Is Your Process Odorless?

In the resurfacing process, we exclusively utilize “Greenguard” certified waterborne products. The only scent you’ll encounter is a faint, pleasant aroma.

How Much Does it Cost to Refinish or Resurface a Hardwood Floor?
While most resurfacing jobs start at just $0.99 per sq/ft, it can be hard to give you a final price on any service because it depends on the size and scope of the job. Please feel free to give us a call for a no-obligation price estimate on your next project.
